How to clean up a signature scan for a form
- Add the scan or photo of your signature.
- Check the result: white background, solid dark ink, cropped. Use the sensitivity slider if strokes are broken or too heavy.
- Choose the width your form asks for and download the JPG.
Typical form requirements
| Requirement | How to meet it |
|---|---|
| “Signature in black ink on white paper” | Ink colour: Black, background: White (JPG) |
| Width in pixels (e.g. 140–600 px) | Choose the width; height follows the signature |
| File size range (e.g. 10–20 KB) | Then use increase image size in KB |
| DPI (e.g. 200 or 300) | Then use change image DPI |
Always check your form’s current instructions. For documents and PDFs, a transparent PNG usually looks better.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my signature look grey or shadowy?
Phone cameras and scanners record the paper as light grey, especially with uneven light. The tool measures the paper brightness across the photo and makes it pure white, then sets the ink to a solid colour.
What size should a signature be for forms?
Check your form: common requests are around 140 × 60 px to 600 × 250 px and 10–50 KB. Choose a width here, then adjust the KB with increase image size in KB if needed.
Can I keep the original pen colour?
Yes: choose “Original colour” as the ink colour.
Is the signature stored anywhere?
No. It is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Does it work with a scanned PDF?
Take a screenshot or export the page as an image first, then add the image here.
