How to mirror and print sublimation designs
- Add your designs (PNG with a transparent background is ideal).
- Set the width in inches or cm for your blank: mug, tumbler, coaster or shirt.
- Download the PDF and print at 100% with sublimation ink on sublimation paper. The designs are already mirrored, so leave the printer’s mirror option off.
Common sublimation sizes
| Blank | Design size |
|---|---|
| 11 oz mug (full wrap) | about 8.2 × 3.5 in (21 × 9 cm) |
| 15 oz mug (full wrap) | about 8.5 × 4 in (21.5 × 10 cm) |
| Square coaster | about 3.75 × 3.75 in (9.5 cm) |
| Shirt chest print | 3–4 in wide |
Sizes vary by supplier, so measure your blank or use its template and add a little bleed (about 1/8 in) on wraps.
Why mirror in the PDF instead of the printer?
Printer drivers differ: some have no mirror option, some reset it between jobs, and some apply it only to certain paper types. A mirrored PDF prints the same on any printer and lets you fit several designs on one sheet to save paper. For iron-on transfers, see mirror image for iron-on.
Frequently asked questions
Do you always mirror for sublimation?
Yes, for sublimation transfers the printed side faces the blank during pressing, so the design is printed mirrored. Text and logos would otherwise come out backwards.
What size is an 11 oz mug design?
About 8.2 × 3.5 in (21 × 9 cm) for a full wrap; many people use 8.5 × 3.5 in and trim. A 15 oz mug is about 8.5 × 4 in. Check your mug supplier’s template.
Will the colours look right?
Sublimation ink looks dull on paper and brightens after pressing. Colour accuracy depends on your printer profile (ICC); this tool doesn’t change colours.
What paper sizes are supported?
A4, US Letter, A3 and Tabloid (11 × 17 in).
Are my designs uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, so your designs never leave your device.
